Emotional Violence is using words to humiliate or intimidate a person..

Physical Violence is hurting a person's body or the things a person cares about.

Sexual violence is forced or coerced sexual touching.

Any sexual contact between an adult and a child is sexual violence.

Rivers of Hope believes that no one deserves or wants to be beaten.  We provide emergency shelter and support services to battered women and their children.  All our services are provided in a supportive, nonjudgmental and non-violent atmosphere.  Women seeking help will be told the options that are available to them, will be given help to attain these goals, and will be respected for the decisions that they make about their own lives.  We expect all volunteers to agree and support this philosophy.
