Rivers of Hope has served communities in Sherburne and Wright as well as portions of adjoining counties since 1989.  Our focus is domestic violence, and our services are provided at no cost to individuals, schools and communities. 

Emotional Violence is using words to humiliate or intimidate a person..

Physical Violence is hurting a person's body or the things a person cares about.

Sexual violence is forced or coerced sexual touching.

Any sexual contact between an adult and a child is sexual violence.

  • Help Line 

    A 24/7 hour crisis telephone line to answer emergency calls for assistance.

  • Advocacy

    Finding resources, exploring options, safety planning and support while working through the legal system.

    • Transportation services for women who have no means of getting to safety or necessary appointments.

    • Going through medical procedures

    • Filing a police report

    • Going to court

    • Obtaining an Order For Protection

    • Applying for economic assistance

    • Looking for housing
  • Support Groups
    • Providing a safe environment fostering awareness and positive life changes.
    • Support groups so that women can meet with other women and share concerns about the violence in their homes and explore ways of breaking the cycle of violence.
  • Violence Intervention & Prevention
    • Youth Programs to provide education and support to young people with abuse issues.
  • System Change
    • Creating awareness of domestic violence issues and changes in the response from law enforcement, courts schools businesses, health care systems and communities.
